If You’re Not Vaccinated, You ARE in League with Coronavirus
I Said What I Said, But it’s also What Science Says
Generally speaking, I appreciate that vaccination is a personal choice, and that we have advanced in the fight against COVID-19 and the Coronavirus such that we are way more comfortable than we were in 2020. However, this Delta variant and the inevitable subsequent variants pose an acute risk of COVID-19.
If you haven't gotten a single dose of vaccine, or only gotten 1 of your mRNA doses and yet to get the 2nd one, please consider getting fully vaccinated. When the Coronavirus outbreak began, we lost a lot of lives, family, friends, loved ones. The US death toll is above 605,000. Those are real people. Mothers, fathers, siblings, people's children, spouses, life partners. There are 33.7M cases in the US.
Many of those lives lost were the result of infection prior the availability of vaccines, or much information about the effectiveness or safety of the vaccines. But now, we have numerous vaccine options, locations to get them, and tons of data about safety.
If you were hesitant to get the vaccine before, I implore you to reconsider. It pains me to see loss of life that is wholly preventable. The next wave of COVID deaths will likely consist mostly of those who are unvaccinated based on the trajectory of these variants. Lookout for yourself please. If I know you, we've broken bread, shared laughs, comforted each other in our sorrow, built institutions together, had social media spats, or even been close enough at some point to have beefed, stay alive please. You are a part of me and my life, and I'd like to see you stay.
