Loretta Lynch(ing)?

The latest “culture” public opinion trial charges Loretta Lynch with selling out the folk for taking representation of the NFL against Brian Flores. All I can say is it is rough out here for any high-profile Black person. Every life choice is overly scrutinized through the lens of how it effects the entire Black community…and that’s some unfair sh#t.

First, I really wish we would slow down passing judgment on matters that may or may not implicate race in kneejerk fashion. We don’t like the NFL (although we watched the crap out of the NFL). So we immediately side with Brian Flores. Not saying he wasn’t discriminated against, just saying the average person knows squat about what actually happened and/or how the law actually works in 100% of these situations, but gets hardened in their position like they were in the room where it happens. Let the facts play out further in ALL things.

Second, Loretta Lynch was hailed by the culture when she was appointed the first Black Woman AG. Just like VP Harris was when she was being considered to be the first Black Woman VP. But when folks called into question actual behaviors, decisions, actions vis-a-vis the Black community then, it wasn’t allowed. Fast forward to today, we are ready to lambaste Loretta Lynch for her actions, her race and gender be damned. Without making a personal judgment of her actions, I think a clear lesson to be learned is that we fair better by actually critiquing what people do and have done, and what they might do for the culture instead of just celebrating their racial, ethnic, gender make-up.

Lastly, if Loretta Lynch deserves heat for this personal life choice/job responsibility, everybody needs to be called to account. We act like every action every Black person takes better be 100% advancing the culture, and 0% negative to the community. Take a look at every single thing you buy, every place you patronize, every assignment you take at work, for whom you work, I mean every single thing, and if you’re perfect in this regard, then by all means, throw your heaviest stones at Lynch.

In the end, she may have made a measured decision to screw all the overlooked Black coaching candidates by taking this representation, but if she had any goodwill with the community from her work prior to and during her time as AG she probably deserves the benefit of the doubt until more is fleshed out.
